Condo for Rent Sep. 28th, 2009 @ 01:48 pm

Hello everyone! I hope this type of post is ok here. My mother owns a beautiful condo West Ashley at The Arboretum, and has been living with my husband and I for several months. We need extra income and are trying to find renters.

More information can be found at http://liveatthearboretum.blogspot.com/. Feel free to pass this along if you know anyone in the market. We're looking to post this at the City Paper and the Post & Courier soon, but hoped to get a little free 'word of mouth' in the mean time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking.

off-the-wall question Jan. 20th, 2009 @ 09:12 am

Has anyone in this community ever heard of, or know anything about, a small restaurant on 17-A in Moncks Corner called Subhaanallah African Cuisine? I'm always interested in trying out new ethnic restaurants but don't know anything about this place other than its hours (apparently open M-Sa for lunch only, 11-3). I can't find any references to it on the internet so I'm guessing it's either really new or really under-the-radar. I know of it only by chance...saw it one day while driving through Moncks Corner.

Thanks in advance...

The Summerville Community Orchestra is hosting a New Year's Gala this year at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Summerville. If you're looking for an evening of elegance to celebrate the new year, here's a great chance to do so--and to help the orchestra in the process. You'll also get to hear more waltzes, polkas, and tangos than you ever thought possible. Johann Strauss is the featured composer of the evening.

Tickets are $75 each and are limited. Visit http://summervilleorchestra.com/events.html for more information and to purchase tickets.

Anyone around town--especially Summerville--use Vonage as their landline provider? Are they good, bad, ugly? Anything I should know?

Thanks in advance...
» Random Project - Any Help Would Be Appreciated. :-)
First off, thank you mod for letting me post this... :-)

I'm making this traveling notebook for my son, and one for my brother. I'm pretty much trying to find, one or a few people from each of the 50 states for this notebook (well, both notebooks). They both travel together and will be passed on to someone else in the USA so postage costs shouldn't be much when posting out again. What I'm looking at doing is having everyone put a state map postcard, or a descriptive postcard from their state - so it has the silhouette of the state with the state bird, flower, something like that... write about your state, what you like about the state, what your life is like... add photos, and just plain be creative with the books... when you've put in your entry and your happy with it - I'll give you the next address which will probably be in a neighboring state and you send it onto the next "host". You can write the same in both of the books... that's not a problem at all... :-) I've been rounding up people for the books, but they've just been sent out today to Washington (from Australia)....

So yeah, if anyone would like to help that'd be great and contact me by commenting here, email at sara.ringham@gmail.com or just message me on here and we'll go from there... if you have any questions let me know as well - it's after midnight so I'm sure I've missed out on something... thanks for helping anyone that is interested in helping me out!

» Introductions
So I know I've been lurking in this community asking all sort of questions but now that I'm here in Charleston, let me introduce myself. My name is Uyen (pronounced Wen). I'm 25 and I am in the culinary arts and baking arts program at the Art Institute of Charleston. I love to cook and bake (obviously). I like trying new restaurants and since I'm new in town every restaurant is pretty much new to me. I also like exploring new places and learning new things. I've been here for about a week and haven't really done much exploring since I've been pretty much unpacking this whole time. I've made a few friends but I could always use more. Anyone want to be my Charleston tour guide and show me around? Also if anyone want to try different Charleston restaurants with me just leave me a comment. I hate to eat alone.
